FFAO Ambassador Competition

AMBASSADOR COMPETITION

The Fire Fighters’ Association of Ontario is seeking interested contestants for the Ambassador Competition during our summer convention.

ENTRANTS SHALL BE:

1) Age to be 16 to 21 years by the Friday of the FFAO Convention.

2) No professional models.

3) Sponsored by a member department.

4) Reside in the area covered by the sponsoring department.

5) Sign a consent form  (or have a parent or guardian if the Ambassador is under 18 years of age).

6) Entries are to be delivered to the host department by July 15. No exceptions for late entries.

7) Not be a fire fighter.

PURPOSE:

-To encourage fire safety awareness amongst the residents of Ontario through youth.
-To provide fire safety awareness at the FFAO Annual Convention.
-To be a youth representative of the FFAO.

DUTIES OF FFAO AMBASSADOR:

– Take part in any public relation activity the FFAO executive would deem useful.
– Prepare a safety message for the next FFAO convention program.
– Attend the annual convention Memorial Service and take part if possible.
– Permit use of the Competition Address by the FFAO.
– Be available to support Muscular Dystrophy in some manner.
– Be available to appear in a taped message suitable for cable television.
– Attend a luncheon of the Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers Association at their annual conference.
– Attend the Medal of Merit annual dinner held at the FFAO convention.
– Winner must ride in the FFAO Monday Competition Parade.

THE WINNER SHALL RECEIVE:

– A Trophy – supplied by the FFAO.
– A cash prize.
– A medallion to be worn when attending events– supplied by the FFAO.

DRESS CODE COMPETITOR:

Business Casual ie: dress, skirt with dress shirt, dress pants with dress shirt (jacket & tie optional), golf shirt with dress pants.

JUDGING TO BE BASED ON:

– A speech of 3 to 5 minutes in length, the topic to be on fire safety and why the contestant would make a good representative.
– Question and Interview before the panel of judges.
– Two (2) impromptu questions in front of the audience.
