Greetings and welcome,

My name is Brad Lemaich and I am your FFAO president. On behalf of the executive and myself I am pleased to welcome you to our new newsletter.

Early in 2023 your executive team began the process of re-invigorating our organization. In June we welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Solicitor General and the Fire Marshal where we discussed the need for improved support to our members and their departments. We have also engaged with other fire service organizations such as the OAFC, FSWO, and the OPFFA, and strategized on how we can work together to achieve shared goals in improving the fire service.

We continued to offer and provide support for a number of fire service funerals. The FFAO was honoured to attend the Ontario Firefighters Memorial Service at Queen’s Park in October along side the OAFC and OPFFA. We have begun to advocate for better WSIB claims consideration on behalf of Ontario’s volunteer firefighters and have opened a dialogue with the respective government ministries. Working with the OFM and the original sponsoring family, we have selected a new home location for the firefighters memorial that was located on the grounds of the Ontario Fire College.

We continue to collaborate with various vendors and service providers to be able to offer product and service discounts or advantages to our members. By publishing of this newsletter we are working towards our goal of enhancing communication and increasing value for you, our membership. Your executive has been hard at work to ensure our organization is meeting the needs of our members and the fire service in general.

Please share this with others and help us make the FFAO leader in representing Ontario fire service members and retirees.
