Thank you to Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development @DavidPiccini. We greatly appreciate the time you spent with us today and look forward to continuing the conversation.

The Firefighters’ Association of Ontario had the opportunity to meet with Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development David Piccini earlier this week. FFAO President Brad Lemaich, Chairman of the Board David Cairns, and Board Director Gary Fleming were warmly received by Minister Piccini and his staff at their Toronto offices.

The FFAO addressed W.S.I.B claim challenges that volunteer firefighters are facing, primarily in the areas of heart injuries and presumptive cancer coverages. We also requested that the Minister ensures that the FFAO, on behalf of the 18000 volunteer/paid-on-call firefighters in Ontario, is adequately represented on the Fire Service Section 21 Guidance Committee as our colleagues in the OPFFA, OAFC, and AMO are.

The FFAO would like to thank Minister Piccini for taking the time to discuss these issues with us. We would also like to thank Solicitor General Kerzner for helping to facilitate this meeting.

The FFAO continues to advocate for our membership and looks forward to future meaningful discussion with Minister Piccini and his staff.
